Hayley & Symon | Brighton Beach Wedding | Adelaide Wedding Photographer | Glenelg Golf Club | Corrynn Jones Photography

This gorgeous summer wedding was one of the most genuinely fun days we had of the season, Hayley & Symon are just hilarious, gorgeous & totally in love, it's adorable!

But let's go back to where it started....when Hayley first made her appointment to come and chat about what we could do for their wedding I was soooo excited, at long last we were going to meet after over a year of emails and Facebooking we would meet face to face...I was pumped....then when I found out that her Mother In Law to be was coming as well....my nerves kicked in and my hands were shaking to the max!  When it comes to talking to a couple about their day, I connect with them & their plans, I get a picture of who they are, what the look of their day is...the feeling, the style etc.  I have only ever done 2 pre-wedding interviews with mums and it always makes me nervous, because as a mother, I know that I want the best for my kids as I'm sure they do too. Sue was just wonderful and as I explained what it means to me to be a wedding photographer, the angles I want to capture & the importance of the family & the moments I looked over to find her tearing up...I made her cry!  I felt awful, but to be honest, when I meet potential clients I don't put on a show of who I could be, I'm honest (even to the point of turning clients away if we aren't on the same page - they deserve someone who gets them better than I do).  But in all of my explaining about my work, I'd never made anyone cry!  She was so moved by my attitude & approach, it was really touching.

When I arrived at Hayley's house to do the girls prep photos, the 1st thing I did was hand Sue a brand new box of tissues, so her make-up would be picture perfect all day.  Then onto my gorgeous bride & her maids...we had lots of fun & laughs getting ready & when the Kombi's arrived to take us to the wedding, with such a bright and glorious colour scheme, you couldn't help but smile & feel happy.

The ceremony was held in a reserve over looking the beach, my goodness did I cry when I was proofing those images!!  Hayley teared up as soon as we pulled up in the Bus stop for her to get out and the pure emotion & joy on her face as she walked down to marry the man who makes her laugh, smile & feel like the only woman on the palent, was so moving, as was the look of pride on her dad's face!  "That's my girl!"

Our first stop from the ceremony was a garden with columns & archs & creeping vines that made a stunning little stop on our way to Brighton Jetty for some more romance and laughs.  Then, onto the fabulous Jumping Pillow for way, way, way too much fun and dress ripping laughs....yes, I said..DRESS RIPPING!  The whole bridal party was jumping, sitting bouncing on the giant jumping pillow when all the laughing & motion was stopped by gasps at the sound of chiffon ripping....we were all worried about what Hayley would think & how she would react to her beautiful wedding dress being torn as she jumped on the pillow...it was a hold-your-breath moment that was a true testament to the beautiful, happy, joyous & gorgeous woman she is.  Wth a quick asessment of the damage she was back to the jumping in no-time and as we headed back (after the fun had been fully sufficed) to get some pins from my emergency kit to fix her up I asked, "Have you had a good day so far?" to which she replied,
"Yep, it has been amazing, I don't even care that I ripped my dress!"

A special mention has to go out to my hubby here, being my 2nd shooter is a part time for him, he had several chunks of metal in his eye from working as a landscaper the previous day. His eye was quite red, puffy & watery and yehe braved the jumping pillow and shot directly towards the sun to get these amazing shots of Symon jumping.  When you're a wedding photographer, you can't have a sick day and there's no reshoot, he qtly got on with the job (wiping his teary eyes) and got some amazing shots too!

After chilling out with a few drinks (we always allow time for our couples to relax during their day) we moved onto the final destination for our photo shoot & for the day, Glenelg Golf Club.   There we used the gorgeous Kombi vans from Kombi's 4 U for some awesome love-bug shotsand made fabulous use of the lush practice green & mini forrest we found too.

It was such a great day spent with fabulous, beautiful, generously loving, wonderful people, and we truly had the most fun time.  Hayley & Symon, thank you so much for including us in your awesome day, we joyed every minute of it and look forward to capturing more memories for your family in the future.  <3 Corrynn & Jarrod ~ Corrynn Jones Photography

When I 1st met Carolyn, I was showing her how to use her Canon SLR to get awesome photos of the beautiful & most delicious cakes she was making at Frangipani's Cakes.  We were at the very 1st McLaren Vale Wedding Expo & were packing down after a busy day of meeting potential clients.....
I never thought she would be the client that would change my life forever!

As fate would have it, a year later at the next McLaren Vale Wedding Expo, we met again and once again as we were packing down we had a chat about life & cake when Carolyn whispered in my ear "You know you're coming to Vegas to do my wedding photos, right?" to which I of course laughed, assumed she was joking, and replied "Absolutley, I'll come!"
A month later we met again at Frangipani's Shop Grand Opening & I met Gareth for the 1st time & the whispers were there again as I was introduced as the girl who would be coming to take their photos in Las Vegas....I jokingly went along with it...I mean seriously, who goes to Las Vegas for a wedding...it just seemed ridiculous that anyone would want to take me across the world to capture their day!  We had a great day at the opening, said our goodbyes & carried on with life.

I was checking my Facebook one day, when I came across a message from Carolyn asking if I had a passport & could I get one ASAP....I looked at my husband & said "Hun....I think she's serious....I think she wants me to go with them....what should I do?"  To which he replied, "If you don't go, I will!  You can't miss this opportunity, it's a once in a lifetime thing, you have to go."
So with 4 weeks before we were due to be in Las Vegas, we scrambled around getting passports, flights, accomodation etc all booked and ready for the most amazing experience of my life...
MY FIRST INTERNATIONAL WEDDING....and MY FIRST LAS VEGAS WEDDING!!!

Carolyn & Gareth met me at the airport & gave me the tour of the Las Vegas Strip & surrounds, helped me settle into my room at their chosen hotel for me, the Paris Hotel & Casino Las Vegas (including it's very own 1/2 scale eiffel tower!) & then we were painted the town red, 1st stop was M&M's World (4 sotries of M&Ms deliciousness!!) where we sampled just about every flavour & colour on the M&M's wall of colour & I squeaked, ooh'd & aaah'd at absolutely EVERYTHING!!  We had dinner together & chatted about the wedding the next day....it was all far too fabulous to believe & my nerves & jetlag kept me awake most of the night...
...I was in Las Vegas to shoot a wedding...was it even real?

I was up bright & early the next day, getting my cameras, batteries, lenses, flash & cards all organised for the day & trying to wrpa my head around what was about to happen....I mean, I shoot weddings all the time and you don't get a reshoot....but I will never get a reshoot in Las Vegas, and they bought me here to get it right....yes, I was nervous as I've ever been in my life...maybe more!
I headed out on my 15 min walk to Caesar's Palace, home of my gorgeous bride & groom, when I got there & saw them my mind was set at ease with loads of fun & laughs and just the gorgeousness of the love between these two.....& I was lucky enough to be their chosen one.

After capturing our bling & before shots, we headed down to the amazing Gold Fish Noodle Bar, the Grand Foyers, Fountains & entrance of Caesar's to wait for the limo to take us to the Chapel for the ceremony.  The Chapel of Flowers at the northern end of the Las Vegas strip is just stunning, and was the most perfect setting for such a special couple.  When we arrived, Carolyn went in to get the signing of the papers under way and Garth took a moment outside to get ready to marry the girl of his dreams...I gave him a few ideas to calm his nerves, from my experiences and we went inside to continue the signing.  As I was the only guest, I was also the witness for the marriage & signed my name on the dotted line to complete the paperwork & it was time for the ceremony to begin.

Most of you know I get teary at weddings...there's always sometg different for each couple that will set me off, but to be honest I never thought I would cry at a Las Vegas wedding....it just always seemed to sound very Wham, Bam, Thank you Mam and not at all personal and sentimental...boy was I wrong!  The Minister conducted the ceremony with his gorgeous 6ft8in african american-ness, the accent, the words, the pauses, the giggles, the vows they made....it was all just perfect for Carolyn & Gareth & I couldn't help but well up at one of the most beautiful ceremonies I've ever witnessed.

Once the paperwork was completed, the ceremony finished with the kiss & walk down the aisle, it was time for our photo shoot.  We used the grounds & gardens of the Chapel for an hour & then headed back to Caesar's and made good use of the epic shopping centre fountains & ceilings as well as the pool area & wedding grounds.  We drove out to the EPIC "WELCOME TO LAS VEGAS" SIGN & made good use of the strip as well.  We stopped for cake in the gorgeous cake shop in Caesar's & then went up to their room where Carolyn made the epic call to mum "We're married!"

The wedding reception (for 3) was at the spectacular Eiffel Tower Restaurant in my hotel and we dined while overlooking the gorgeous Bellagio fountains.  After what can only be described as a scrumptiously delectible meal & dessert, we headed out again to the lights of Las Vegas, made good use of the beautiful Bellagio fountains & epic columns, archways & rotunda's at Caesar's Palace until it was time to say goodnight & let the happy couple enjoy their wedding night together.

I stayed in Las Vegas for a total of 4 days, each day was a new adventure for the 3 of us, including a roadtrip to see the sights d many walks up down the ever so famous Strip.  It was a life chaing experience for me, my first trip overseas, ever and an epic adventure across the world.  Not only did I gain international experience, the trip of a lifetime & many dreams come true, but I have also gained 2 of the most gorgeous friends I could ask for!  I cannot thank Carolyn & Gareth enough for the opportunity they gave me, for the laughs, the fun, the amazement of everything...it was so surreal and I am forever grateful.

Gorgeous Miss E on our 1800's bed

The Beautiful S Family

With the HUGE success of our December Mini Sessions being booked out we followed up our demand with another round down at Port Willunga Beach.  This time the promise of the 1800's bed being there if we filled the session, ensured that they were all snapped up immediately.

We framed the R Family

What fantastic & beautiful clients we had!!!  Beautiful children, couples & gorgeous families.

It was a glorious summery day and the beach was full of interest when we arrived with our trolley full of frames & props, our vintage chair & of course the bed!  Many people couldn't help but satisfy their curiosity with questions of "What are you doing?" "Is this a wedding or a party?" and of course "What is the bed for??"  We had an awesome night for creating beautiful memories for all involved & the sunset...to die for!

I love watching kids soar

Don't forget to keep an eye out for more CJP Mini-Sessions later in the year & register your interest to keep you in the loop.  We will be doing more & going to some AMAZING locations so stay tuned!!!

P&B had a really fun vintage feel to their session

Moana Beach - Adelaide Maternity & Newborn Photographer - Corrynn Jones Photography - When 2 becomes 3 - Little N on the inside

Thursday, October 7, 2010 0 comments
I had the best time with E & A at their maternity session - A's step mum organised the session for them as she really wanted them to have something special to remember this time in their lives & I am so privileged to have been chosen for it.

Young, vibrant, hilarious & so in love - I had a ball watching these guys & we had some great locations to use too.  They had a gorgeous tree swing in the back yard guarded by the most unusual 'Tree man' I've seen, but he provided us with lots of giggles!  A gorgeous park bench as well as the beach.

We also had some fun with props such as their pet snake.....yep! You read right! - my first maternity session with a snake - given she's only a baby carpet python I was mesmerised & a little grossed out by her but I couldn't resist including her in the session too!  This proved harder than I thought although I managed to get a couple of shots in before it was time for cranky snakey to go back in her enclosure.

After that we headed down to the beach & got some magical shots there due to the wind being just perfect.....perfectly cold & stingy enough to leave us all with tears in our eyes but absolutely FABULOUS images!

Soon it is time for little N to join us in the outside, but I until then - I loved every minute of capturing him on the inside!

Barossa Valley | Adelaide Children's Photographer - Corrynn Jones Photography - Vintage Collection

Monday, May 24, 2010 0 comments

I have fallen for Vintage photos and history in a big way!  I've been researching my family tree and have been able to record 170 relatives for my children within 1 month, it's so interesting!  I've been able to locate war documents and graves and census and wedding locations from my family's history, but most of all I've loved looking back at old photos.

Doing the research had me looking at all my Grandparents old photos from 'back in the day' and I just love them!  I love the clothes they used to wear and they way they would all just pose for a picture without being bashful, but never really smiling.  I love the stories told by these pictures and I feel that in this day of 'right now' media and everyone's 15 minutes of fame, we've lost that story telling in our everyday photos.

I have a collection of vintage luggage, clothing, hats, boxes, tools, teapots and bric a brac that I've been putting together for years without having a purpose other than I love the way they were made and how they look.  I finally have a use for them all!

We packed as much of our Vintage Collection in the car this weekend and headed to the Barossa Valley in search of old family graves, my great, great, great Grandfather founded a town near Angaston, and so we headed up there in search of his family and any history we could find.  We were able to locate his son's grave in the Historic Angaston Cemetery, however there was only a base of the headstone left.

The cemetery is almost empty but such a beautiful little location we couldn't resist getting out the vintage collection of things and taking a glimpse back in time.

I hope you like my Vintage Collection.  Why not add a vintage touch to your next session?!
