My Angle

I see the world in wideangle, portrait & fish-eye.The click of my shutter is the beat of my heart. And looking through the lens shows the depth of my soul. I ♥ capturing the ART in your moments!
Specialising in Wedding, Family & Commercial photography with a difference.
I love to capture those stolen moments - from behind a curtain, the big moments - from a different angle & the tears rolling down your cheeks - from across the room. A great photo is not only a picture, its a memory, often a magical moment that's captured, frozen time and available for you to look back on. You can pass them down through the generations of your family so they can see you for who you are at that chosen time in your life. The great ones let you remember everything about the time it was taken, the mood, the smell, the weather, the friends, the laughter & tears. Capturing moments that are so easily forgotten, so you can hold onto them forever. Let me in to a moment in your life & I will give you images to cherish forever. Port Willunga Beach | Adelaide Wedding Photographer | Corrynn Jones Photography - Timing and the elements

Tuesday, May 11, 2010 1 comments
So, you've planned the perfect day, you know when everything's arriving and taking place right down to the last minute.  But have you though about your timing and the elements?

The weather can have a big impact on your day, especially your photos.  If it's sunny and bright you can have beautiful clear blue skies and gorgeous bright colours. Clouds on the other hand give you moody, intense and stormy shots. Add a little (or a lot) of wind in your hair or veil for a touch of flair and unpredictability.  Rain brings out the cuddles under umbrellas, running for cover, splashing in puddles and dancing in the rain.  Yes, the weather is unpredictable but a good photographer can make the best planned day hit by rain and clouds into spectacular photographic art for you to remember forever.

You can't plan the weather especially a year in advance!  But you can plan the TIME of your wedding.  Timing is everything!  In Adelaide we experience daylight savings times so we get to experience a vast range of lighting in the dame time slot at different times of the year.  So that's when you need to think about the kind of photographs you like.  Do you want to have a brightly lit sky for a morning/midday wedding (or afternoon daylight savings) or do you want the colours and magesty of a sunrise or sunset?  Do you want both?  Are you a fan of silhouette photos, high key images or do you like a bit of lens flare?    One thing for certain is that you don't want to be standing around in the dark because the sunset earlier than you thought or getting married in the carpark next to the beach because the tide is high.

Planning your wedding is planning the biggest party of your life, and your party is going to be great no matter what time you have it.  But your photos are the memories you will have of your day to keep for the rest of your life, so think about the elements, the lighting, the colours and plan your day around the images you want to capture and the mood and memories you want to create on that day.  You'll still enjoy the biggest party of your life, but the setting, memories and images will be forever breathtaking.

The Retreat, Chapel Hill Winery | McLaren Vale Wedding Expo | Adelaide Wedding Photographer | Let them eat.....

I LOVED my cake! My wedding cake came about as I was drawing a basic 2D picture of a very basic looking cake...I added a few hearts & flowers to the sides and then proceeded to draw 2 little marzipan versions of myself & my husband for the top as we couldn't find any plastic one we liked. I handed the picture over to my fabulous cake decorator Shelly Treml and trusted her to turn my basic picture into the cake I saw in my head. The night before the wedding as we were finishing up the decorations at the reception venue Shelly's dad Tom, arrived with a large box filled with my cake. As I'm quite small in stature he teased me by holding it above my head and taking little sneak peeks in the box & saying things like "Ooops took a turn to quick" and "I don't think you want to see this". Finally he lowered the box...and tears streamed from my eyes! It was perfect! It was everything I dreamed & so much more, I can not thank Shelly enough for the amazing job she did. She even spent hours making the hair colour match mine! It stills brings tears to my eyes & we still have the top of cake with our little selves on top 10yrs after the event.

I thought about all that yesterday while at the wedding expo. I was lucky enough to be up at The Retreat at Chapel Hill Winery, it was beautiful! The location is amazing and they have such high standards for their events, amazing staff & the kitchen...WOW!

Because of their fabulous kitchen, all of the catering & cake displays were held up there as well as a couple of us photographers, florists, celebrants & the amazing Venue decorating & DJ masters - Venue Productions. The cakes looked divine & tasted fabulous and I as was surrounded by them I couldn't resist capturing these edible masterpieces.

Port Willunga | Adelaide Wedding Photographer | Corrynn Jones Photography | It's The Little Things...

After attending a gorgeous wedding on Saturday with absolutely stunning decorations, it made me think about the details & all the little things that make a wedding 'look' amazing. At our wedding we had silver hearts swirling up out of pots next to our entries & exits and my favourite....black & white goldfish (little brides & grooms) in large cylinder vases on the tables. The only thing is, I have no pictures of them. The food was great but again no pictures to remember what we ate. In thinking about all of this I have decided to put together a collections of images I've taken from the weddings I've been to. A collection of all the little things that make a wedding standout, the little thoughts the bride has spent hours umming over to make sure each table looked fabulous etc. I make sure I capture these little things, because they have taken a lot of thought & effort.

See! The little things do count! ;)

When these two lovebirds met through their church even being on opposite ends of the country couldn't keep them apart! 16th Jan 2010 marked the beginning of W and C's marriage and what a beginning it was! A sunny, beautiful and emotional day.  Sick bridesmaids and family couldn't dampen the excitement, love and laughter at the bride's house.  The boys had a ball with my 2nd photographer for the day - Cara. The ceremony felt like there was no one else on the planet except for our beautifully in love bride and groom.  We had a lot of laughs during the family & bridal party photo session, tears were flowing during the reception & the romance that oozed in our Post-Reception Couples Session was just magic!   I had a great day and am so priveleged to offer Weddings as part of the CJP service.

Here's some of my favourites from the day.
